Scriptural Truth for the Week

"Living Water"   John 7:37-39

• What you thirst for and How you get your thirst satisfied matters. 
•   Evidence of the flow of the Spirit are signs of life; power that comes with movement; and  growth in and around you. No flow, no grow. No flow, no glow. No flow, no go. 
• Identify what interrupts or blocks the flow of the Spirit: repent of sin; get rid of barriers and things that block the flow; and ask the Spirit for help.
• Thirst for more flow of the Spirit in you

" Don't get weary. Don't quit"

Galatians 6:9; 1 Corinthians 15:58

Weariness grows from becoming tired in (a situation) to becoming tired of (a situation) which leads to quitting. 

Ways to avoid weary and quitting:

• remind yourself that harvest is coming and that any work done for the Lord is not in vain
• stay determined by listening to your goals/mind and not to your feelings; keep a growth mindset 
• remember to rest to avoid fatigue
• remind yourself that God rewards faithfulness        

    "Remember to Remember" 

I. The Bible gives commands and instructions that we are to remember certain things so that we can "keep it" (Rev 3:3)

II. Acts 2 tells us that The Holy Spirit manifested in a powerful way on the day of Pentecost which we need to remember!

III. The Holy Spirit empowers, impart gifts and still shows up in powerful ways if we seek it, believe it, get in one accord and if we tarry long enough.

"Be Comforted"   (John 14:18)

• Two reasons for our discomfort/trouble: 1) to test your faith and grow your endurance (James 1:2-4); 2) We get comfort from God so we can comfort others (2 Cor 1: 3-4)
• God offers us comfort: 1) in the form of strength & help (Isa 41:10: 2); 2) God is with you in whatever happens (Isa 43:1-2); 3) God makes all things work for us (Rom 8:26-30); 4) God's love is unchangeable (Rom 8: 38-39);  Jesus said come to Him with your heavy burdens 

"The Church Displays God's Wisdom"

Ephesians 3:10-11 

• The Church is the Light that reflects Jesus
• The Church displays God's Wisdom to rulers & authorities
• God is still working on the canvas called the church, continuing to reveal His masterpiece

"Where is your Fruit?"

Isaiah 5;  Matthew 7: 16-20

God provides good soil, plants the choice vine and gives you a Helper.  He expects fruit.

 What keeps you from producing?

• Greed?
• Chasing pleasures?
• "small" sins that lead to patterns of sin?
• Confusing right from wrong?
• Pride?
• Impaired judgment and decision making?

"Victorious Living"

Romans 6:6, 12-14

• If you know Jesus as Savior, then sin no longer has a hold over you
• Don't let sin abide or rule in your mind or body
• Victory is found in offering your mind and body to God
• Its your choice to be a slave to your flesh, a slave to sin or a slave to God who the only One who knows what is best for you.

Who is your Master?

Ecclesiastes 10:8-10  The simple truth is that if you sharpen an axe, it will make the job easier.

       "How do we sharpen our lives?"

• Use wisdom that comes from God
• Remember you only get one body and one life: care for it wisely
• To stay sharp, you will need to stay strong. Draw on the Lord's Strength (Isa 40:29;41:10; Eph 3:16; 1 Chron 16:11; Phil 4:13)
• Use the proper sharpening tool: the Bible (Basic Instructions Before Life Ends)

                           Palm Sunday:  Matthew 21: 1-11

Jesus, the King of Kings entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey's colt. Palm branches (symbol of freedom and victory) and articles of clothing were laid at His feet while He was praised for the Lord and King that He is!

• Will you lay your freedom of choice at His feet?
• Will you give Him all that you have including the coat off your back?
• Will you lay down your entertainment and your time at His feet?
• Will you lay your resources at His feet?

    "Mercy Triumphs (Trumps) Judgment" James 2:13          

• God is the Judge - its not our job
• What greater mercy is there than what Jesus did for us on the cross
• Judging divides. Mercy unites
• Judging hurts. Mercy heals
• Judging discourages change. Mercy motivates

Choose to show mercy that God expects and desires from us. Leave the judging to God.

                     "There's a Better Day Coming"

*Consider Job, Noah, Joseph, & David who had trials but a better day came

**We too can count on a better days coming because Of Jesus' better day Resurrection!  Heaven is our Ultimate Better Day Coming!!

"Wilt Thou Be Made Whole?"

John 5: 1-9

• Jesus asked the man by the pool of Bethesda if he wanted to be whole
• Jesus calls to us, the spiritually blind, the emotionally or spiritually crippled and the withered powerless ones who are not connected to the vine
•  May we all make the choice to rise up from our limitations and stuck places and look to the One who can make us whole

"Field of Vision"

Habakkuk 1:1-5; 2:1-4; 2:14

May we all be "filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord.."

• Our spiritual field of vision helps us avoid dangers, snares and traps. It keeps us on the straight and narrow
• Our spiritual field of vision helps us keep balance by the guidance of the Holy Spirit
• Our spiritual field of vision tells us how to handle situations and how to truly love others.  
• Our spiritual field of vision tells us how to behave. It transforms our thinking

What we learn from 2 women who anointed Jesus' feet with expensive perfume and one woman who anointed His head with expensive perfume

• May we all have boldness to seek Jesus no matter who is watching
• May we all freely give our best to Jesus
• May we all be openly grateful to Jesus and worship Him openly

What will you give Jesus? Your praise? Your worship? Your time? Your resources?

"Guardians of the Trust" :1 Tim 6:20-21; 2 Tim 1:13-14

• Hold on to sound teaching
• Make your duty as guardian of the trust God has placed in you a priority
• Let the power of the Holy Spirit equip you for this guard duty
• Do not engage in idle speculation, engage in arguments about the truth, or listen to false teachings

Guard the truth that God has entrusted in you.

Psalm 68:35

• The power of salvation (Romans 1:16)
• The power to live godly (2 Peter 1:3)
• Power in weakness (Isaiah 40:28-29)

"The Jesus Team needs You Christian"

• The team needs everyone! Even the feeble are a necessity (v.22).
• Everyone needs to stay focused on loving others, being salt and light and leading the way to Jesus
• Everyone needs to keep the Bible code of conduct for smoother operation
• Everyone needs to be interested in growth in themselves and in others
• Everyone needs to be lifters; ones who lift in prayer, lend help, and act humbly and kindly.

• Jesus loves the church & is continually building it
• The church of the living God is the pillar & foundation of the truth
• The church is a central place to be an ACTIVE part of the body and to get trained & equipped

"AMAZING GRACE!"    Titus 2:11-13

1. God's Amazing Grace saves wretches like us
2. God's Amazing Grace teaches our hearts to fear and obey Him
3. God's Amazing Grace gives us hope that blesses us
4. God's Grace is so Amazing that the more you humble yourself, the more of God's grace you will receive (James 4:6)

Guard your heart: guard where it goes and guard what it grows

Watch your mouth: take care to use words of life, not of destruction

Stay focused on where you want to go in life

Make choices that are pleasing to God: stay on the right path

"How do you really live? from 1 Thessalonians 3:8-13

Practice gratitude: it glorifies God and it leads to joy and peace

Pray more for others: it changes things and it promotes  wellness

Abound in love: it reflects God and it improves relationships

Live holy and righteous: God blesses you and it makes the world a better place

1. Get their instructions from the Bible not from worldly sources, problems or from themselves
2. Resemble their elder brother and Savior Jesus in their conduct
3. Set the temperature around them by: 1) being salt that enhances flavor, reduces corruption and  stabilizes situations; 2) being light that brightens, provides warmth and provokes growth in others
